Aimed at those who may not benefit from social housing waiting lists such as keyworkers, 55 London offers a truly affordable rent.

Our rented studio and 1 bed homes are available at less than the London market rent, offering you the opportunity to rent your own space with no deposit required.

55 London’s safe and secure homes are available in multiple boroughs across London. They’re a mix of both general purpose and sheltered housing schemes, with some providing additional features, such as resident alarm systems, communal facilities, launderettes and gardens.

The initiative is already improving the lives of people such as Paul, who lost his home after being impacted by the financial crisis. With both this and high market rents, Paul house-shared for many years until 55 London gave him a home to call his own – at the Oldfield Estate in Camden.

Paul, 60, said: “I would highly recommend someone to move to a 55 London home. There are really good facilities here and my flat gives me the privacy that I didn’t have before.”

Do you qualify for 55 London?

To meet the criteria, you'll need to confirm that you're:

  • over 55 years old
  • in work or are in receipt of full Housing Benefit
  • can afford the weekly *rent and service charges
  • and do not have a household income over £60,000.

Unlike typical affordable or social housing, you do not apply through your local borough council. Instead, you can apply directly through us.

*Please note that if you're eligible for Housing Benefit, eligible communal service charges will also be paid by Housing Benefit. Non-eligible service charges such as water and heating in your individual flat, won't be covered by Housing Benefit. We can explain this to you in more detail when you view a property.
