Volunteer with C&C: Make a genuine impact
At C&C, we believe that true community strength comes from people connecting and contributing. Volunteering with us is an incredibly rewarding way to make a positive difference in our residents' lives and the wider community. You'll not only help us achieve our vital social purpose; tackling loneliness, improving wellbeing, and empowering residents, but you'll also gain valuable experience and build new connections yourself.
We offer a diverse range of roles to suit all backgrounds, interests, and availability, whether you're a student, or a member of the general public.
Your gateway to volunteering: The Impact Hub
All of our volunteering opportunities, from regular commitments to one-off activities, are listed and managed through our Impact Hub. This easy-to-use online platform is where you can explore available roles, find all the details, and sign up directly.
C&C
Volunteering in care
Our volunteering opportunities in care are fundamental to achieving our social purpose. We welcome individuals from the general public and partner organisations who are ready to bring invaluable warmth, support, and connection directly into the lives of our older residents in their homes and care settings.
Roles often involve:
- Providing friendly companionship and befriending for older residents in our care homes.
- Assisting with engaging activities and social events, bringing joy and participation.
- Reading with residents or helping with light administrative tasks that truly support daily life.
Hear Ariane’s story

I have been volunteering at Rathmore House care home in Camden over the past 10 months. This has been part of my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award and I’ve found the experience to be fulfilling, fun and touching.
Two of my grandparents were affected by dementia, which led me to choose to volunteer at Rathmore. I have found it enlightening to learn more about people living with dementia and this has inspired me to do further research into the medical causes of the condition as an extension of my Chemistry and Biology A levels.
Above all, my visits to the care home provide me with a complete change from my usual activities. It’s given me a new perspective on life seen through the eyes of people who have lived far more of it than I have. It has been fun and interesting to hear about their lives, jobs (from ballet dancing to teaching!) and relationships.
Your contribution
Volunteers are truly invaluable to C&C. Your dedication enables us to deliver impactful projects, programmes, and community activities every year, helping us to:
- Support the success of existing, beloved activities.
- Strengthen social connections across all our communities.
- Create lasting, positive change that addresses real needs.
Many of our opportunities involve lending a hand to an activity that is already well-established, offering a clear way to make an immediate contribution.

Specific opportunities: Intergenerational & student placements
We absolutely love bringing different generations together! We run wonderful projects where local schools partner with us, allowing children to interact with our older residents. These initiatives foster unique bonds, share skills, and bring immense joy through rich conversations and creative activities. Projects can be seasonal, often tying into the school curriculum, and we're always keen to hear from schools (teachers, headteachers) looking to partner with us on these experiences.
- For students looking for practical experience, we offer placements in our London care homes, particularly in fields like Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech and Language Therapy, and general healthcare studies. These placements provide invaluable real-world experience and career insight into care home settings, offering a different depth of experience than more intensive nursing environments.
If you're a student seeking a placement, we recommend you email us directly first at getinvolved@ccht.org.uk to discuss potential suitability before applying via the Impact Hub.
