C&C supports reintroduction of safe care home visits during lockdown

05/11/2020

C&C has welcomed new government guidance that allows care home residents to be visited by family and friends during the current lockdown period.

Julia Ashley, Chief Executive of C&C, said: “The reintroduction of visits will come as a huge boost to the mental health and wellbeing of many of our residents. C&C has been arguing for safe and Covid-19-secure visits for the benefit of both our residents and their loved ones. Garden visits will resume (where weather permits) and we are in the process of installing visitor pods at each of our homes to enable residents and visitors to meet at a safe distance. We continue to offer video and telephone calls for residents too.

“For people with specific health conditions and needs, care homes continue to provide them with the best environment and quality of life in spite of the pandemic. While we know many people are worried about putting their loved ones into care at this time, we have been heartened by the positive experiences of others who have recognised that our homes are in the best position to meet their daily needs.”
