C&C's Cecil Court care home in Kew has been recognised for its work utilising technology for the benefit of residents during the Covid-19 pandemic at this year’s Care Home Awards 2021.
The ceremony, held on Friday 8 October at the National Conference Centre, Solihull, saw a Highly Commended award given to Cecil Court, in the category of Best for Use of Technology for the benefit of residents or staff.
The award recognises the pioneering work Cecil Court played over the past year towards the launch of My Life TV, the first video-on-demand television channel for people living with dementia. In addition, the home was quick to enable Skype calling within bedrooms and lounge areas, allowing residents and their families to keep in touch on a regular basis during periods when face to face visiting was restricted.
Sharon Bye, director of care, C&C, said:
“This award is testament to the fantastic work that Cecil Court has conducted throughout the pandemic, particularly recognising and utilising the important role technology has played to keep people connected despite the limitations of lockdowns and distance.
“In addition, My Life Films has subsequently rolled out My Life TV nationally, including for the benefit of our other three care homes, and Cecil Court continues to be involved in the project by offering updated feedback.”
