Our approach to care

We pride ourselves in also providing dementia care and instead of focusing on the things a person can no longer do, we support them in continuing to do the activities they are able to do. Most importantly are those things that make them smile.

Our compassionate care teams treat everyone as an individual. We take the time to learn about our residents’ hobbies and interests, their taste in food, their physical and mental needs. That’s partly why our teams have won numerous awards, and even a British Empire Medal for services to care!

We pride ourselves on our 5:1 resident to staff ratio as it provides a more personal caring experience.  Our teams largely comprise long-serving, permanent members. We don’t use agency staff, instead we have developed our own trusted additional staff members to provide extra support cover when needed.

Our aim is to be recognised as an innovative provider of excellent care homes and services. And for residents to see us as a true home from home.

Since 2012, we have won six awards at regional and national level that celebrate our distinction in care services, housing services and our creative arts programme. We were shortlisted for three separate awards at the 2021 Care Home Awards, and were Highly Commended in one category!

Understanding your loved one’s passions

We take the time to get to know each individual through the use of life history assessments and other specialist techniques to understand each individual’s passions. This helps us to create a calendar of activities to improve quality of life, help build relationships and shared moments so they can truly feel ‘at home’.

We believe that people living in care can have inspirational lives. It’s important to us that our residents are provided with meaningful and purposeful activities, which reflect uniqueness and embrace the past, present and future.

Some activities are run by our creative arts and fitness programme which has been providing award-winning artistic, exercise and therapeutic activities to our residents for over 30 years. We have a dedicated team service offering residents a host of fun and absorbing artistic activities. Residents in our care homes also enjoy gardening, interactive drama, all-abilities yoga, choir groups, music classes and much more.

We want family members and friends to feel part of our home, to be actively engaged and always warmly welcomed.

Nutrition

Our residents enjoy a wide choice of home-cooked meals, prepared daily by our team of professional chefs.

C&C

Our caterers specialise in using fresh, high quality produce and creating flexible menus that balance nutrition and taste.

We change our menus every four weeks and they feature a choice of meals including vegetarian, special diets, light and large options. Other meals are available for residents who want an alternative to any of the main choices.  See a sample menu.

Not only do we take account of all dietary requirements, we go the extra mile to ensure our residents’ varying tastes are catered for. We organise regular meetings between our chefs and residents to discuss the menus. We find out everyone’s likes and dislikes so residents are well looked after from the moment they arrive with us.

We are so passionate about food that our residents can choose not only what they eat, but also when and who they eat with.
