There is a total of 29 flats, built in 1973 and renovated in 2001, Blackham House provides 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom sizes. It also includes mobility and wheelchair standard properties
Residents live independently in their own flats. There is a member of staff on site 18.5 hrs per week. There is also an emergency call system in all flats which is linked to a local call centre, which operates 24 hrs a day.
The scheme supports independent living.
The schemes communal facilities include:

- Lift to all floors
- Well kept, mature gardens
- Limited parking
The communal areas are maintained by C&C with cleaning contractors looking after the internal areas and gardening contractors making sure the gardens are well maintained.
All new tenants are given a tenancy pack, which includes their tenancy agreement and a residents’ handbook, outlining their rights and responsibilities.
There is an information folder available in the communal lounge with information on amenities and events in the local area.

Our sheltered Service Officers then work with each resident to draw up an individual support plan. The plan may offer support with daily living skills such as claiming benefits, making rent payments, sorting out rent arrears and reporting repairs. Residents who need more support can be referred to specialist agencies.
The friendly atmosphere at our sheltered schemes is important to us, so we recruit people who are warm, open and sensitive to the needs of older people.
As well as informal socialising, activities are organised such as coffee mornings, film club and aromatherap.
Activities are also provided from time to time by our Creative Arts team.
We regularly hold roadshows, conferences and assemblies to allow for our residents to have an opportunity to communicate with us clearly and directly.
The scheme is situated close to local amenities and the tube station.
