Philip House sheltered scheme provides 50 self-contained studio flats and 30 one bedroom flats for older people aged 55+. The scheme aims to support independent living.
Philip House was purpose built in the early 1960s and has five residential floors. It is situated in the Kilburn Priory area.
Residents particularly like the convenience of being near to the shops on Kilburn High Street.
Residents live independently in their own flats and can ask for support from staff if they need it. There is also an emergency call system to all flats.
The scheme’s communal facilities include:
- a large communal lounge
- a communal kitchen
- a library/games room
- a laundry
- two guest rooms available for a reasonable charge
- two lifts
- a staff office
- a car park
We employ contract cleaners and gardeners to service the shared areas and residents can also call on our centralised repair service.
Medical professionals call at the scheme when required.
Staff provide new residents with a tenancy pack, including their tenancy agreement and a resident’s handbook, outlining their rights and responsibilities.
Staff work with external agencies to allow independent living to continue as part of the tenancy support.
Residents at Philip House take part in outings, a weekly Bingo session and afternoon tea events. There is also plenty of informal socialising in the communal areas.
Residents take part in activities organised by our Engagement Team Department. Some activities involve other sheltered scheme residents and take place off site.
Louiza is supported by Service Officers at Philp House, whose job involves helping to manage the scheme, as well as providing support to residents so that they can continue to live independently.
New residents are provided with a tenancy pack, including their tenancy agreement and a resident’s handbook, outlining their rights and responsibilities. Our sheltered Service Officers then work with each resident to draw up an individual support plan.
Philip House is a few minutes’ walk from the shops at Kilburn High Road, which include branches of M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury’s ,Argos, Iceland, Aldi, TX Max. There is a small market and a good modern library. The open spaces of Primrose Hill and Regent’s Park are a bus ride away. There is a Church of England Church on nearby Abbey Road (St Mary’s) and a Catholic Church (Sacred Heart of Jesus) on Quex Road, off the High Road.
Transport in the area is good. Kilburn Park tube is on the Bakerloo Line, while Kilburn High Road is an overground station with trains to Euston and Watford Station.
